Player Movements Create Parody!
Summer league typically sees some players moving to other teams while others leave to play golf, or spend outdoor time with family, and this season is proving to be the same. While there are fewer teams, player movements have created more parody so, if week one is an indicator, the teams appear to be pretty evenly matched which makes for a fun season. As always, we look forward to sharing our Wednesday nights shooting pool with you at Strokers.
Breaking Bad Aces Round 3 to Set Up 15-10 Win!
With Ruben Soto joining Breaking Bad this season, their match last week with Movin Up pit him against Brian Collins and Dave Savoy against Steve Intonti, all top ten shooters. It was bound to be a shootout and it didn’t disappoint. They split the first two rounds 5-5, and the last two 5-5 so it came down to the middle round which Breaking Bad swept for their 15-10 win. All four of Breaking Bad’s players: Ruben, Steve, Sam Phillips and Neil Hurley took three points apiece. Dennis Berkza led for Movin Up with three points followed by Dave Savoy, Larry Shower and Brian Collins split six points. This week, Breaking Bad draws Spartans and Movin Up faces The Rat Pack.
Moynihan Taps 1st Runout; Leads Spartans in 15-10 Victory!
The Rat Pack is definitely a team in transition with one of their top shots moving to the golf greens, and two new players joining their team. Their newest players are Justine Torres and Paul Lemaire who made the move from other teams, and will enjoy playing on a team of skilled shooters. From the outset, Spartans had the upper hand last week after opening their match with a 4-1 first round, then adding nine of the next 15 points for an early match win. Marty Moynihan and Mike Notini led their offense with four points each which included Marty’s first runout of the season. Larry Zwicker and Brian Hughes assisted with three points each. Jacob Hirschhaut was The Rat Pack’s top shot for the night scoring four points followed by Dave Ryall and Justine who split four. Spartans matches up with Breaking Bad this week which pits Marty against Ruben Soto while The Rat Pack takes on Movin Up.
